As a Professional Member of the BIDA, Susan was asked to
design the Master Bedroom for the Daily Telegraph House
and Garden Fair 2004.
The Fair takes place every year in June at London’s Olympia.
Master Bedroom
The starting point for the master bedroom was water. The shape of
the room was based on classical proportion, providing the symmetry
and harmony that is evident in the space. Water is not practical
for an exhibition environment, so we looked at ways to simulate
it by using cast glass panels.
Other textures such as leather, silk and metal were used to provide
a textural contrast. Decorative influences were taken from the 30's
and 40's era adding glamour and sophistication to the room.
The lighting scheme is a very important element to the room as this
sets the scenes for the moods that need to be created.
